Jesus predicted his death on at least three occasions. Why did he choose to follow this costly path? What did he hope to achieve by dying in this way? This sermon series will explore how the Suffering Servant Songs in Isaiah shaped Jesus' understanding of God's call on his life and its eventual cost. We will see how Jesus saw himself as embodying faithful Israel in a way the nation failed to be and Israel's faithful God as one who comes to save in the most unexpected way. This will help us understand why the path to Easter followed the course it did.
